In order to address the growing concerns about environmental sustainability and to improve the Community Education Public Awareness (CEPA) of the constituents regarding Solid Waste Management, the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) held a seminar at Tuding Barangay Hall on October 02, 2024.

Barangay Kagawad, Hon. Dagupen David, Jr. cordially welcomed the Purok leaders, and Solid Waste Volunteers. He also sent his appreciation to everyone who attended the previously mentioned seminar. He also underlined the significance of the seminar and the role that each individual has to play in helping the barangay resolve its waste problems.

Prior to the formal start of the resource speaker’s talk, everyone was given the opportunity to discuss and voice any waste-related problems or worries they often saw in Barangay Tuding.

Through the use of a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) setup, Mr. Jason B. Banisoc, Municipal Forester I, resource Speaker, highlighted the significance of enforcing appropriate waste segregation as well as the Republic Act 9003’s established prohibitions and associated sanctions.

Throughout the trash segregation process, Mr. Banisoc emphasized the need for discipline in enforcing the Dos and Don’ts.

Noemi Caasi, a Solid Waste Volunteer, further concurred, saying that discipline needs to begin in every home in order for it to be effortlessly transmitted from older to younger generations. The waste problem may not be solved right now, but with time and discipline, it will eventually be resolved.

Caasi added that in order to confirm the success of the Solid Waste Management seminars, she also mentioned that it could be beneficial to perform house-to-house visits following the lectures. She continued, saying that in this way, there may be transparency regarding whether the talks from the seminars are implemented or just sit there unspoken.

Hon. David, Jr. went on to say that Barangay Tuding can benefit directly from the best practices for standard waste segregation that he had learned about at the seminar. Additionally, he is wishing for the best, that the constituents would use what they have learned.
